Hallstatt is famous as being one of the oldest salt mines in the world going back to the Bronze Age 7000 years ago.
A city world famous for its breathtaking beauty, considered by many as one of the most beautiful lake towns in the world. Built by the miners who turned brine into salt. Due to land shortage buildings were created in the hills. For many years there was no road along the lake, only a narrow path over the roofs of the city.
Enjoy a walk around Lake Hallstatt, take a boat trip or the cable tram and enjoy the magnificent view from the “Welterbeblick” skywalk, situated 360 meters above the city rooftops.
